Annette attended Central Valley High School where she was the GSL MVP twice and was the WIAA State Champion in the 300 hurdles. She transferred to CCS from the University of Idaho for the 1983-84 season. One of the toughest competitors to ever play for the Sasquatch, she helped lead CCS to the NWAACC basketball title. At the end of the 1983-84 season, Helling was named to both the All-Region and the NWAACC All-Tournament Teams as well as being named team Most Inspirational Player. Annette was an outstanding three-sport star, coming back to CCS to play soccer at the age of 29. Helling went on to play basketball and run track at Whitworth University before earning her BA from EWU. Annette started a career of teaching and coaching in the Mead school district and is currently the head track coach at Mt. Spokane High School.
